The 4th Meeting of Alumni Associations Platform of ITU Was Held

The 4th Meeting of Alumni Associations Platform of Istanbul Technical University, hosted by ITU Alumni Association Cyprus (ITU MEDEK), was held at Acapulco Resort Convention SPA Hotel, on Saturday, 28th April 2018.

 

The meetings were held in two session and were attended by ITU –TRNC Educational Research Campuses Rector Prof.Dr. Ercan Kahya, Vice-Rector Prof.Dr. Serdar Kum, Advisor to the rector Dr. Cemil Yurtören and Secretary General Dursun Koç have attended to the meeting. On behalf of ITU MEDEK, which hosted the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEDEK Hilmi KANSU, Sayman Gökhan NAIM, Secretary Mehmet Başel, Member of the Board Mehmet Zorba, and Seçil ÇABUK ÖZER also attended the sessions. ITU Alumni Association, ITU Union Ankara, Gaziantep, Kahramanmaraş, Bursa ITU Alumni Association, ITU Shipbuilding Engineers Association representatives and KKTCELL General Manager Harun Maden also participated in the meeting that the Vice Rector of ITU Prof.Dr. Telem Gök Sadıkoğlu, also responsible for communications and marketing of ITU, and ITU Alumni Relations Office Coordinator Hülya Dalgıç also attended.

 

During the first session of the meeting, which was moderated by ITU Alumni Association Platform, the Coordination Committee Chairman Bülend TEMUR, all associations presented their own activities, studies and projects within their own associations. Ideas were exchanged in order to increase the communication and collaboration and carry out joint activities between the associations. ITU MEDEK shared the ITU HOME Cyprus project and its details with the participants in their presentation. At the end of the first session, Bursa, ITU Alumni Association President Hasan TUĞCU, presented a gift to ITU MEDEK president Hilmi KALE and also expressed their satisfaction for being in Cyprus.

 

In the second session, after the completion of the association presentations, ITU-TRNC Rector Prof. Dr. Ercan KAHYA gave information about the problems that our university has faced in realising the Famagusta and Yeni Erenköy campus projects since its establishment and the point the university is at now. KAHYA mentioned that the campus at this stage with its current projects, has no problems other than financial issues. Finally he said that that they expect support from the civil society and the representatives of all associations to resolve this issue.

 

ITU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Telem GÖK SADIKOĞLU gave a presentation in which he talked about the work they have done since the day he was appointed; he emphasized that communication and marketing in today's world is indispensable for the future and continuity of universities as it is in every field. ITU Graduate Affairs Office Coordinator Hülya DALGIÇ talked about the importance of relations with graduates; she also called for help from the association representatives to provide scholarships to students in need by the graduates.

 

At the end of the sessions ITU MEDEK hosted a dinner at Girne Archway Restaurant to those who attended the meeting. ITU MEDEK Honorary Member and Former Prime Minister Hakki ATUN attended the dinner and presented his latest published book called "Şehrin Gölgeleri " to ITU Vice Rector Prof.Dr. Telem GÖK SADIKOĞLU to be delivered to ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARACA.

 

On 29th April 2018 Sunday, representatives of ITU Alumni Association Platform visited ITU-TRNC Famagusta Campus with ITU-TRNC Rector Dr. Ercan KAHYA, Vice Rector Assoc. Dr. Serdar KUM, Advisor to the Rector, Cemil YURTÖREN and the General Secretary Dursun KOÇ. They toured the campus then had the opportunity to visit Famagusta Walled City with a tour-guide.
