ITU IS 1st IN TURKEY

Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) is in 202nd row of “Engineering and Technology” subject of QS Subject Based World University Rankings, and 1st in Turkey in a total of 10 different subjects.

 

Subject based world university rankings determined by the world-renowned British education consultancy firm QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) has been announced. Obtaining very successful degrees among Turkish universities, İTÜ raised the bar since last year when it entered the list at the 218th place and ranked 202nd in the world (with 69.5 points) in “Engineering and Technology” subject this year. İTÜ took the 2nd place in Turkey in the same subject. İTÜ also achieved a great success by entering the first 50 of QS World Rankings in Mineral & Mining and Petroleum Engineering subjects.

 

İTÜ took the 1st place in Turkey in a total of 10 subjects of QS 2021 subject based rankings including Earth and Marine Sciences; Civil and Structural Engineering; Electrical and Electronics Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; Environmental Sciences; Chemical Engineering; Architecture/Built Environment; Chemistry; Geology; and Geophysics.

 

İTÜ entered the world’s first 400 under 19 headings of QS it features in. İTÜ achieved a great success by being among the world’s first 50 universities in Mineral & Mining Engineering and Petroleum Engineering subjects. İTÜ rose from last year’s 48th place to 42nd place this year in Mineral & Mining Engineering subject while it became 36th in the world rankings in Petroleum Engineering.

 

Commenting on the rankings, İTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu said, “As QS World University Rankings also shows, the University of Firsts İTÜ continues to be one of Turkey’s leading universities with its research competence and education quality. As the most competent technical and research university of our country, it is one of our priorities to raise our academic level in a sustainable way every day within the framework of our vision for the future. On this occasion, it would be appropriate to emphasize once again the recent importance we give to international relationships. University-industry cooperation is also among the issues we focus on most.”

 

QS Subject Based World University Rankings is the university rankings made by Quacquarelli Symonds company according to various academic criteria. Between 2004-2009 they worked jointly with Times Higher Education and they published THE–QS World University Rankings. QS also evaluates and ranks universities based on departments and faculties.
